Megan mc Guigan is a fashion designer and textile artist from Ireland. With her work “A Safe Space” she aimed to create a space where to feel protected, at ease. Her textile exportation is inspired by a human womb and other organic structures such as a moths cocoon have informed colours, textures and shapes. Fabric has been imagined on the body in a wrapping “swaddle” which is meant to mimic the feeling of the womb, and also knitted samples have been shaped to look like cells. Fabric weight has been considered to mimic a weighted blanket used to calm.
